Cleaning and oxygen bleach

I have been crazy busy at EarthyMamma headquarters testing out products, making deals with suppliers, ordering stock and organising it at home.

We now stock a few more exciting items the first one being:

The handle is made of bamboo, an environmentally sustainable timber. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth, and incredibly abundant. It re-generates itself naturally, with minimal rain and without the need for harmful pesticides.
The bamboo is heat treated to carbonise the surface of the bamboo, giving it a quality finish and good service life. The carbonisation finishing process provides water resistance and prevents the growth of microbes (bacteria and moulds) during normal use.

The bristles are made from a polymer resistant to microbial growth during normal use, to ensure safety and durability.

Customers are raving on about great they are as the head is smaller than a normal toothbrush it can really get into those hard to reach areas. And better yet they are cheaper than buying a plastic toothbrush from the supermarket!

Our second product is Certified Organic Hand sanitiser

Due to it containing no alcohol is is not thick like standard hand sanitizer and is packaged in a mist bottle allowing it to be used on various surfaces including public toilet seats. No more squatting over toilet seats or covering it in layers of toilet paper that never stay put!

Also i have been asked to share my results from the oxygen bleach trial.

I am so impressed! I use soap nuts for all my washing, it works really well but I found it struggled to get strong stains out. Nothing that a few days in the sun couldn't get out (the sun is a natural bleach) but in gloomy Melbourne where its a rarity for the sun to stay out for more than a few hours I was struggling. I also soaked my clean mop in some of the bleach and oh my god the water was brown! Major ewww the best part was it will not discolour fibres the way chlorine bleach does.

Oxygen bleach is excellent for cleaning and removing organic stains (such as coffee, tea, wine, fruit juices, foods, sauces, grass and blood) from fabrics, plastics, fibreglass, porcelain, ceramics, wood, carpets, asphalt, concrete, etc.
Oxygen bleach can be used in any place in or around the house that need to be de stained and deodorized; it is efficient, safe and economical. It is non-toxic, environmentally safe, biodegradable, and leaves no harmful by-products or residues which can harm the environment.

Enough from me let these before and after photos do all the talking.

I will definitely be stocking oxygen bleach =)

lots of love

Chinese medicine and Chiropractors

My son and I have been attending a chiropractor for 4 months. It took a while to see results but boy was I impressed! I no longer constantly have sore achy shoulders. After giving birth my back would get so sore I couldn't sleep flat on my back I would have to sleep on my tummy, or side. I believe this was due to the spinal block that was administered to me before having lots of stitches done. I would see the chiro weekly, i recovered so much faster thanks to there gentle adjustments.

Vomitron's had severe colic and reflux when he was born, his back and pelvis where out of line, it is quite normal for babies to need adjustments after being born as the birthing process can be quite traumatic on their little bodies. The colic disappeared quickly, the reflux toned down but never completely left him. We now see our chiro for relief from everything, the common cold, ear infection, cough, chest infection even sticky eye.

Unfortunately the cost of holisitic and natural living on one wage can get quite costly, chiro for us 3 was adding up. $60 each, once a week for Vomitron and I and 3 times a week for my husband (his a wrestler so his back is waaaay out of wack.)

This is when I contacted RMIT teaching clinic . It is a teaching clinic run by students and teachers. You get treated by 4th year students under strict observation of there teacher. With the paediatric chiro its the opposite the teacher treats the child while the students observe. I personally proffered their service way more than a standard chiro, they are so eager to treat you to the best of their ability.

This is how i got acquainted with Chinese Medicine. In the same clinic there are Chinese med students, same scenario as above. So I booked myself in on Monday and are completely amazed with the results.

They asked LOTS of questions from your eating habits, to your sleep quality, to how dry your skin is and even checked my tongue. It turns out i am severely yang deficient- this explains my dry skin, ulcers in my mouth, constant feeling of tiredness, insomnia and always feeling hot.

you can read heaps more about yang and yin HERE

I had a session of acupuncture and was given herbs to take 3 times a day and let me tell you how much of a difference it has made. I have the energy to do everything I need to and more, i fall asleep very easily, I am not highly irritable and frustrated. And I have sooo much more patience, this could be due to a better quality sleep. I am a better wife and mother thanks to my new found energy levels. And not one drug has entered my body wehoo!

I am very very impressed and would highly recommend it to anyone. And it was totally affordable.

lots of love from a very refreshed and energised

charity

Heya earthlings,

Hope we are all absorbing the sunshine that is beaming down, funny how a little bit of sun can make things seem so much better!

Ive been crazy busy with uni, it seems that assignments from various subjects are always due within the same week. I am also working on the packaging of our new 100% organic cleaning range which I promise to  showcase as soon as its complete.

I recycle a lot of the bottles from when my cleaning products finish. It feels like such a waste to throw them away. I use the prettier looking bottles for air freshener- I simply add a few drops of essential oils my favourite being mandarin and some water, give it a shake and there you go no chemicals, no overpoweringly strong smells and hey you not only saved some money you've also recycled woot!

on another note I love supporting charities and pledge to support one charity a month by either donating an item for auction or giving a percentage of sales to the chosen charity.

This month I have chosen to support

Little Angels Memory Boxes

LAMB is an Australian charity that donates Memory Boxes and Memory Bags to hospitals for families who suffer the heartbreak of losing a baby or child. LAMB also offers support to families and hospital staff by working together with like-minded organisations and businesses that can assist families in creating and capturing as many memories as their hearts desire. With the 24 hour FREE phone support service, LAMB are able to assist and make all necessary appointments and phone calls on behalf of the family, allowing families more time to spend those final precious moments with their baby or child.

There are also two other great causes that i would love for you to visit and show your support to:

Somalia Famine Fundraiser- run by a great group of ladies The amount raised to date for  is $52,915.15.
which is absolutely fantastic!

and

Liptember  who raises funds and awareness for mental health issues for women. All money raised over the campaign will be donated to CENTRE FOR WOMEN’S MENTAL HEALTH, who provide national research and programs for gender specific mental health issues for women and LIFELINE AUSTRALIA, a 24 hour crisis support service. please sponsor my friend or just donate straight to the cause.

Enjoy your day

Welcome to my blog

Hi all!

Welcome to my blog, this is the first time I ever blog so excuse the newbie. I am a 20 year old mother of 1 gorgeous boy nicknamed the Vomitron (reflux bubba.) I study full time at university and are set to complete my degree in July 2012 which i personally can not wait for!

I decided to start this blog as I find that I always have so much to say and so much advice to give but not sure who wants to hear it.

I am the owner of EarthyMamma (website coming soon) a store dedicated to providing families with the best affordable organic, natural and eco- friendly alternatives. I stringently road test lots and lots of products and will only stock the products that have ticked all my boxes. It is my lovely customers that encouraged me to start a blog so they too can be informed as to why i have or haven't chosen a particular product.

So here is my blog where i will spill my guts out, give my opinion, share stories and also give detailed reviews on products. I will try and post as often as I can but as you can understand i am quite the busy mamma.

Please join me over at EarthyMamma where I would love to help you out with any questions.

Enjoy your day lush ones xo
